FSPA Seeks Member Editor for Quarterly Newsletter
We are seeking an FSPA member to serve in a volunteer role as Managing Editor of the Association’s online quarterly newsletter.
As a professional organization dedicated to advancing the psychological health and performance of the fire service, FSPA values thoughtful communication, evidence‑informed practice, and the sharing of member expertise. A quarterly newsletter provides an important platform to support those goals—by highlighting current work, emerging issues, and the collective knowledge of our members.
Purpose of the Role
The Managing Editor will help guide the development and production of four online newsletters each year. The role supports FSPA’s mission by ensuring that relevant professional insights, organizational updates, and member contributions are communicated clearly, consistently, and in a manner that reflects the depth and integrity of the field of fire service psychology.
This position is collaborative in nature and works closely with FSPA leadership and contributing members.
General Responsibilities
The Managing Editor is responsible for:
- Coordinating the planning and publication of a quarterly online newsletter
- Soliciting and organizing content from FSPA members and invited contributors
- Editing submissions for clarity, coherence, and professional tone
- Aligning newsletter content with FSPA priorities, initiatives, and values
- Working with FSPA’s website or communications support to post each issue
The scope of the role is designed to be manageable and appropriate for a volunteer position. Editorial experience is beneficial but not required.
Who Should Consider This Role
FSPA members who may be well‑suited for this opportunity include those who:
- Have an interest in professional writing, editing, or communications
- Enjoy synthesizing ideas and elevating member voices
- Value the role of education, outreach, and professional dialogue in advancing the field
- Are looking for a meaningful way to contribute service to the Association
This role is also an opportunity for members to engage more deeply with FSPA, support professional visibility for colleagues, and help shape how the Association communicates with its membership and broader partners.
Interested in Learning More?
Members who are interested in serving as Managing Editor, or who would like additional information about the role, are encouraged to contact FSPA leadership through the Association’s established communication channels. Expressions of interest and informal inquiries are both welcome.
