The Spouse – Part one
Listener discretion is advised – graphic content
The reality of being married to a firefighter is that your spouse will likely spend as much or more time with their crew than at home with you. They will be exposed to traumatic situations and will not always be able to come home and talk about it; that can strain your relationship if you don’t understand what is happening and how to stay connected. Our guest talks about how her husband’s experiences with traumatic calls affected her and their relationship, and Dr. Chuck uses her religious faith to help change her perception on how she thinks about traumatic events. Dr. Chuck has worked with veterans for over 30 years, and attempts to retrain those veterans on how to think about death. In this episode he uses that same technique on this firefighters wife.
