In Memorium: Dr. Charles “Chuck” Allen

The late Charles “Chuck” Allen was an early member of FSPA and was actively engaged in the organization as a member of the Board of Advisors until his death on May 15th, 2026.

“Dr. Chuck” was a Licensed Psychologist and worked in the mental health field since 1972 and spent over 30 years working with hospital-based programs. He retired from the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in 2006.

He served as the Director of the Chronic Pain Clinic, Director of the PTSD Clinical Team and member of the Dual Diagnosis program. “Dr. Chuck” was also a consultant to South Metro (Colo.) Fire Rescue, he taught in that department’s Command and Lieutenant’s Academy and was a member of the department’s Peer Support Team. He was also an EAP consultant to firefighters and family members.

“Dr. Chuck” earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Denver, a Master of Arts from Chapman (Calif.) College, and a Bachelor of Arts, from the University of Nebraska. His interest in mental health began during his service as a U.S. Marine in Vietnam.
