Galveston Expands Access to Crisis Care With New Response Teams
Providing equal access to immediate mental health and medical care and equal opportunity for justice diversion for people with mental health emergencies when a public safety risk is present is a true demonstration of health systems equity. It may look startling to some who don’t truly look past the presence of a police officer, but for the lives of those who have the chance to access care even when their illness presents with that public safety risk – equity finally looks like #accesstocare
Well done Galveston, Dallas, Chicago, Santa Fe, Fonatana (CA), Tulsa, Abilene and so many others daring to say yes to public safety alternative responses.
