Our vision, mission, and code of ethics are designed to provide every member of FSPA with the guidance and direction they need to be successful. It is incumbent upon every member to know and understand that these are the components of our organization’s “GPS.”
There can never be a policy or a procedure that can be written to cover every situation that you as a member of FSPA might find yourself in but with your “FSPA GPS” you have the tools to keep from getting “lost!”
OUR VISION
Create the specialty of fire service psychology
Currently, there is no fire service psychology section under APA’s Division 18, Psychologists in Public Service. Our efforts and energies should focus on developing the relationships that help build support that will enable us to realize our vision.
OUR MISSION
Develop the scientific study and application of professional psychology to meet the needs of the fire service.
Peer-reviewed studies pertinent to firefighters and fire officers pales in comparison to that for law enforcement officers and military personnel.
FSPA Code of Ethics
A code of ethics is a set of principles or values that guide the actions of the organization and its people. (These principles could also be called a code of conduct.) The purpose of adopting a code of ethics is to provide all members of FSPA with guidelines for ethical behavior and decision making. Click here to see FSPA Code of Ethics.
