| Organizational Affiliation | I retired from CAL FIRE in November 2019 as a Battalion Chief after more than 30 years. I have been a Paramedic for 32 years and currently teach at a Southern California Paramedic School. |
| FSPA Affiliation | In retirement, I have continued to find purpose in supporting First Responders. I was a Peer Support Team Member and Leader for many years; It has been amazing to watch the evolution of behavioral health support in the last few years. I have had my own challenges following a 38 year public safety career. I recognize the increasing level of stress that is placed on our First Responders and want to support them to give them the tools of resiliency that were not there for me. I have a couple areas of proactive focus that are important to me. The first is equiping the early and pre-service individuals with the tools to enhance behavioral health, wellness and resiliency. Second, is to work with our chief officers on their own mental health and wellness so they can support their personnel better. Third, I believe we have brought the issue of suicide into the open; we must now figure out how to provide intervention to slow or hopefully stop this epidemic. I believe that begins with early recognition of subtle warning signs and intervention. One of my key tools in working with our First Reponders is my Support K9 Hank. I am blessed to have found such an amazing partner! Please reach out if there is every anything I can do! |
